Workplace Wellness Hour (January Recap)

The first month of the year is over, but the season of fresh starts continues. Many people use this time to grow and make changes, fueled by the shared energy of new beginnings. Even with different goals, this period brings opportunities to connect—learning what matters to others, feeling supported, and holding each other accountable. It’s a time to strengthen our connections—with others, with ourselves, and with the person we aim to become.

Last month’s Workplace Wellness Hour featured two powerful sessions focused on workplace connections—both with colleagues and within ourselves.

Workplace Culture Priorities for 2025: Building Meaningful Workplace Connections (live on 01.06.2025)

Felipe Cofiño kicked off the year with his first #FelipesFive, sharing strategies to build a dynamic, productive workplace where everyone feels valued. One key insight:

💡 Balance Autonomy with Accessibility – Build trust by being a strong contributor while remaining approachable and reliable.

Ashley Fluellen highlighted the power of friendships across all levels of an organization. When employees support and learn from one another, collaboration grows. People feel safe making mistakes, asking questions, and developing their skills—regardless of their job title.

Sumana Jeddy introduced High-Quality Connections (HQC)—interactions that leave you feeling energized, valued, and respected.

🧩 HQC = Vitality + Meaningful Contributions + Genuine Interest

She explored this concept further in her Connection Science blog post last year.

Corporate vs Non Profit Burnout (live on 01.20.2025)

Megan Whitney led an engaging session on mindfulness and meditation, emphasizing the importance of internal stress management. Many people focus on removing external stressors, but true well-being comes from learning to regulate stress within.

Megan also discussed how burnout appears in different work environments and shared early detection strategies. Revisit this insightful conversation in the replay at the 20-minute mark.

Mindfulness doesn’t have to be complicated—small, intentional shifts can make a big impact. Take a moment each day to pause, check in with your thoughts, and clear distractions.

Felipe and Ashley also reminded us that others need space to check in on you too. The initial rush of productivity can be deceiving—it’s easy to take on too much, too fast.

Sumana emphasized the power of a quick self check-in to catch early signs of burnout—an idea that resonated with many attendees through the DRAMMA Rest and Recovery model.

Let’s Start 2025 Strong

Prioritizing well-being allows us to show up fully for ourselves and others. A fresh start doesn’t always mean starting over—it can mean realigning with the tools we already have.

✅ Build high-quality connections
✅ Apply the DRAMMA model to rest and recovery actively
✅ Be intentional with rest and meditation (Balance app, Megan Whitney on Insight Timer)

Let’s make every day a fresh start—as our most powerful selves.
